Victorian Chesterfield leather upholstered canapé with feather cushions.

We are delighted to offer you this magnificent restored antique Victorian Chesterfield sofa, hand-dyed in cigar brown leather, buttoned, with feather-filled cushions. This sofa is as rare as it gets; it is an original Victorian piece, which is rare in itself. It features a fully sprung frame, with springs not only in the base but also in the armrests and backrests, which was much more expensive to manufacture. The feather-filled cushions have been reupholstered. It retains the original horsehair stuffing. The seat is made with coil springs and the legs are made of mahogany. The leather has been fully restored, including washing, hand-dyeing, and a sealing finish, ready for a new family. The leather is a bit rough in places as it is an old hide. The woodwork has been French polished. Dimensions (at the widest point): Height: 69 cm (can be increased by about 5 cm with castors), Width: 183 cm, Depth: 90 cm. This item is available for collection from our warehouse in Pulborough, RH20 1DF. Please note that antique items like this will always have a natural patina with creases and signs of wear. An annual wax is recommended to preserve moisture and to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent drying and discolouration of the hand-dyed leather.
