Small Victorian leather Chesterfield sofa

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent fully restored Victorian Chesterfield sofa from around 1880, hand-dyed, two-seater, with a fully buttoned base. This piece is very aesthetic and rare to find in this small width of 174 cm (sofas generally start at around 190 cm wide). The sofa has been completely restored, including a new leather base. The old colour has been removed, and the sofa has been hand-dyed in this splendid whisky brown shade exclusive to our leather dyer. The legs are made of solid hardwood and are an integral part of the structure; they are not an after-fixation. The rare castors are made of brass, with the front castors being the original Victorian brass castors with a rubber wheel that is now deteriorated. Dimensions taken at the widest point: Height: 70 cm, Width: 174 cm, Depth: 83.5 cm. Available for collection from our warehouses in Wimbledon. Please note that period and original items like leather seating will always have a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. We recommend regular polishing to prevent moisture loss and advise against direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight, as hand-dyed leather can dry out and fade.
