Vintage Chesterfield leather sofa bed, fully restored, circa 1940.

We are delighted to offer for sale this super rare vintage Chesterfield sofa bed, fully restored, from around 1940, highly collectible and part of a set. This sofa is one of two pieces: the sofa bed presented here, and a matching standard sofa. This sale concerns only this sofa bed. It is the only sofa bed from this era I have ever seen, with an exquisite patina achieved through authentic age and use. The seat cushions are overfilled with feathers, with new fabric and feather backs, and the mattress is new and custom-made, with springs. The sofa has undergone several leather repairs, the colour has been washed, hand-dyed six times, aged, sealed, waxed, and polished. It is a perfect example, resembling a sofa from an English country house. Sofa dimensions: Height 75 cm, Width 206 cm, Depth 98 cm. Seat height: 46 cm. Bed dimensions: Height to the top of the mattress 44.5 cm, Frame width 145 cm, Mattress 134 cm, Depth (from the back of the sofa to the front of the frame) 252 cm, Frame only 188 cm, Mattress only 180 cm.
