We are delighted to offer this sumptuous original Art Deco Chesterfield club sofa, circa 1920, which has been fully restored and is part of a suite. This sofa is very elegant, featuring the metropolitan lines seen in New York's Art Deco skyscrapers; it is highly attractive and fits well in any environment. The piece is naturally buttoned in the Chesterfield style, with Thomas Chippendale floating buttons inside the armrests, adding a refined touch. It also has a buttoned and padded back edge behind the head, which can serve as a high extra seat during receptions. The upholstery is made of thick original leather, with a soft, aged patina. The cushions have medium padding. The seat base is fully spring-loaded, including the front, which is costly and difficult to achieve, significantly enhancing comfort compared to traditional wood. The backrest is made of lightweight foam, softer than period models, which are usually very firm. The sofa is equipped with the original Kendrick castors. Turned walnut feet can be installed upon request. The item has been fully restored, washed, hand-dyed six times, aged, sealed, and waxed, preserving the period charm and age-related patina while offering a new appearance. Dimensions: Height 80.5 cm, Width 147.5 cm, Depth 94 cm, Seat Height 46.5 cm (measurements taken at the widest point). The item is available for collection from our warehouse in Pulborough RH20 1DF, with delivery possible within the UK and neighbouring countries. Condition: restored, wear consistent with age.
