We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare two-seater sofa in whisky brown leather, fully restored in the Lutyens Viceroy style, with floating cushions featuring buttons in the style of Thomas Chippendale. This sofa, which has a beautiful appearance, originates from the original Victorian sofas made by Lutyens, whose family is still in business today. The sofa has a fantastic size; it is rare to find a piece under 160 cm that can comfortably accommodate two people, thanks to its slim, straight armrests with no wasted space. The cushions feature a small button arrangement, used in the 18th century on wingback chairs by the famous English cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale. The cushions are fully covered in leather on both sides to allow for flipping in case of wear. The complete restoration includes new legs securely attached to the frame, not later screwed in, with Victorian-style porcelain casters. The leather has been lightly washed and then hand-dyed six times in this beautiful exclusive whisky colour from specialist dyers. Dimensions: Height 83 cm, Width 135.5 cm, Depth 80 cm. Item available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouse. Please note that period items like this have a natural patina with cracks, creases, and wear consistent with age; regular waxing is recommended to maintain the moisture of the leather. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent drying out or discolouring the hand-dyed leather.
