Victorian Chesterfield canapé from 1890 in restored leather, stamped Cornelius V. Smith.

We are delighted to offer for sale this charming original Chesterfield sofa, fully restored, Victorian from 1890, stamped Cornelius V Smith, in aged whisky brown leather. The sofa features original horsehair upholstery, a coil spring platform with a central beam, characteristic of the most refined models. The front edge has also been re-sprung, repaired, and sealed by a professional specialist in Victorian upholstery, and the leather has been traditionally recoloured in this beautiful whisky shade. Dimensions (width X height X depth): 186 cm X 68 cm X 82 cm. Condition: excellent, renovated. This item is available for collection from our warehouses in Wimbledon. Please refer to the detailed photos that are part of the description and relate to the condition. The period leather shows a natural patina with cracks, creases, and wear. It is recommended to regularly wax it to maintain its moisture. The hand-dyed leather should be protected from prolonged direct sunlight to avoid drying out and discolouration.
