We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent original Victorian desk by Merryweather Holloway, London 1885, stamped in walnut and burr oak. A very fine desk, made by the geniuses at Merryweather Holloway at the end of the Victorian era. The desk features an original green leather top embossed with silver leaves. The wood grain is absolutely stunning, heavily veined and carved throughout. The desk has been cleaned, waxed, and polished from top to bottom, and is in original condition ready for use. It can be restored to a perfect state for a gallery, including the hand-dyed leather top in a wonderful brown colour, and the wood can be washed and varnished with French polish. This is not necessary, but if you desire absolutely impeccable perfection, it can be done. This piece separates into three easy-to-transport parts. Dimensions: Height 79 cm, Width 124 cm, Depth 67 cm. Leg space: Height 63 cm, Width 54 cm. This item is available for collection from our warehouses in Wimbledon. Condition: Please refer to the very detailed photos that are part of the description regarding the condition. Please note that vintage and original period items, such as leather seating, will always have a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. We recommend regular waxing to prevent moisture loss. Additionally, it is not advisable to leave the hand-dyed leather in prolonged direct sunlight as it dries out and discolours.
