Antique folk art armoire from Central Europe made of solid pine wood—dated 1814, as indicated by the inscription painted on the upper cornice. Originating from Central Europe, this type of armoire was part of the traditional furniture in rural homes, used for storing clothes, linens, and domestic textiles. The structure features a solid construction with a central panelled door and an interior designed for storage. The exterior is richly decorated with hand-painted polychromy blending green, red, and ochre tones. The front panels display stylised floral motifs and geometric ornaments, typical of folk art furniture from regions such as Austria, Hungary, or southern Germany. The upper frieze retains the original inscription with name and date, a common detail on this type of furniture often made as part of a wedding trousseau or as an important piece of domestic furniture. The surface retains a historical patina with natural wear, reflecting over two centuries of use and enhancing the authenticity of the piece. Today, these folk art armoires fit perfectly into contemporary interiors inspired by rustic, European folk, or wabi-sabi styles, bringing colour, history, and character. Details. Dimensions: 118 cm width × 44 cm depth × 180 cm height. Style: Folk art. Materials and techniques: solid softwood, probably pine, with hand-painted decoration. Place of origin: Central Europe.
