Antique Painted folk art bridal cupboard

Exceptional bridal cupboard in original paint from Franconia, southern Germany. This cupboard dates from the late 18th century and the original paint is beautifully worn in a characteristic way. This example has a rather special colour combination with yellow, red and green. On the door, in the panel, the tree of life is depicted, growing from the chalice of the water of life. Core motif for folk art of the time. The cupboard shows some old repairs to the foot rail and on the corners of the door. Occasionally there are some old woodworm traces, which have of course been checked and treated. The piece of furniture is equipped with three shelves on the inside and has a working lock with key. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed on the farm in a show room that was only rarely used for important visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
