Painted folk art bridal cupboard 1764

Very decorative bridal cupboard dating from 1764. The cupboard is in its original paint and has a very rustic appearance. This piece is decorated with panels and floral paintings, the paint is quite worn and some decorative mouldings have been replaced. All in all, signs of use that are to be expected for a piece of furniture that is 261 years old. The cupboard has a working lock with key and is fitted inside with a shelf and coat hooks. More shelves can easily be added if desired. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. These pieces were later placed on the farm in a show room that was only rarely used for important visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This piece comes from southern Germany (Franconia).
