Victorian commode by Howard & Son with hidden cupboard.

We are delighted to offer at auction this superb and very rare Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, original and signed by Howard & Son's Berners Street. This interesting piece features four large drawers at the top, while the two lower drawers actually form a large false-front wardrobe, designed to conceal silverware and rare antiques. The second row is stamped with the serial number as well as the name Howard and Son's LTD Berners Street near the lock. The overall condition has been cleaned, waxed, and polished; all the wood is intact and without loss, with some age-related patina marks. The drawers are lighter than the rest of the structure. The piece can be restored to uniform the colour at a professional rate. Dimensions: height 138 cm, width 92 cm, depth 44 cm.
