Antique Rustic Farmhouse Folk Art Painted Bridal Cabinet 1842

Exceptional antique painted bridal wardrobe from southern Germany, dated 1842. A special piece due to the many painted flower panels and the beautiful, time-worn paint. The warm colours, rich decoration, and signs of age give the wardrobe a unique character and make this a typical example of folk art from this time and region. Note also the beautiful, very impressive key plate on the door. The wardrobe is in very neat condition and has only undergone minimal restorations. Some small pieces of the crest have been replaced. The wardrobe originally arrived without a lock, but by chance, we had an original, matching lock with key from the same period, so the wardrobe can now be properly locked. The wardrobe shows occasional old woodworm traces but has been fully checked and treated. Inside is the original shelf with coat hooks; for convenience, two extra shelves have recently been added. There are so many beautiful, refined details to discover that it is difficult to capture them all in photos. A very characteristic and rare piece of furniture with rich decoration and a beautiful historical appearance.
