Victorian state desk by Thomas Chippendale or pair of two-drawer commodes

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning massive state desk, island or pair of hand-carved credenzas from the Thomas Chippendale manor. This intricate piece appears to have been a huge desk whose top has been cut to be used as two large credenzas or as an island. The quality of the carving is sublime, with every piece, from the handles to the wood cuts, being exquisite. Each pedestal includes eleven drawers, a sliding shelf, an open cupboard, and a closed one. The desk is sold as is, with all original handles and locks present but without keys, which can be made by a locksmith. The condition has been cleaned, waxed, and polished. The top has been hand-cut, so the fit is not perfectly flush. Honest signs of age and use are present. One sliding shelf has a leather top, the other does not.
