Slope desk in marquetry – Louis XV period. Elegant slope desk from the Louis XV period, featuring geometric marquetry in precious woods. Its curved front, resting on four cabriole legs ending in refined bronze sabots, perfectly illustrates the rococo taste of the 18th century. The fall front, adorned with superb diamond marquetry and a central medallion with floral decoration, opens to reveal a particularly well-appointed interior. This includes four small drawers, storage compartments, and a veneered writing surface, offering a workspace that is both practical and elegant. The front opens with five drawers: two small upper drawers, a narrow central drawer, and two large lower drawers. The finely chiselled bronze lock entries and handles highlight the quality of the cabinetmaking. The piece is made from remarkable veneers of rosewood, violet wood, and other precious species, forming a highly refined geometric marquetry. The sides are also marquetried, and the original bronzes add an extra touch of refinement. Period: Louis XV, 18th century. Materials: precious woods (rosewood, violet wood, and other species), oak, chiselled bronzes. Dimensions: Height: 100 cm, Width: 91 cm, Depth: 49 cm. Condition: to be restored (missing marquetry). Beautiful patina, clean and functional interior. Some light signs of use and maintenance restorations consistent with age. An elegant and decorative slope desk, ideal for a classic or contemporary interior, showcasing the craftsmanship of French master cabinetmakers of the 18th century.
