We are delighted to offer for sale this extremely rare Georgian bachelor’s chest dating from around 1780, featuring a sliding desk top lined with felt and an adjustable height slope, as well as a second level for stationery or a washing station, made in the Military Campaign style and attributed to Gillow's of Lancaster & London. The wood is period-appropriate, made of Cuban mahogany or Havana mahogany. The piece is entirely original, cleaned, waxed, and polished without major restoration. Dimensions: height 95 cm, width 108 cm, depth 57 cm. A very practical piece that can serve as a bedroom chest or a workstation desk. It includes an original Georgian bevelled glass shaving mirror with exceptional patina. Please note that all details and very precise images accompany the description to assess the condition, but the piece shows wear consistent with its age, with minor losses and slightly discoloured areas. Gillows of Lancaster and London, founded around 1730, was an English furniture manufacturing house renowned for the quality of its creations.
