DCW chair by Charles & Ray Eames for Evans Plywood 1945, original label.

DCW Chair (Dining Chair Wood) in walnut veneer. First generation produced by Evans Plywood Products in 1945 or 1946 (Herman Miller took over production in 1950). This chair retains its original label, the oldest version apart from the prototypes, dating it to 1945 or 1946. Surviving chairs from these years are extremely rare. A museum piece! The chair is in its original finish with the original shock mounts and screws underneath. The central piece of the chair is slightly twisted, so the seat is not perfectly horizontal, a mark of its 80 years of history. Original patinated finish, some scratches on the seat. The shock mount of the backrest has been replaced.
