Chair designed by Louis Paolozzi and produced by Zol seats, France, 1950s. The moulded plywood shell, padded and covered in black faux leather, creates an enveloping seat separated from the backrest by a characteristic cut-out; it rests on a base of four slightly flared black lacquered metal tubes. Height 77 cm with a seat height of 46 cm, width 79 cm, and depth 58 cm. The faux leather is intact and supple, with signs of use and a slight sheen on the seat; the base shows some chipping of the lacquer at the feet. Sought-after French modernist design.
