An Art Nouveau fruit basket, made at the beginning of the 20th century by the renowned German manufacturer Kaiser, features a form that perfectly fits the aesthetics of European Art Nouveau. The organically shaped, wide bowl with a subtly elongated profile has characteristically wavy, smoothly curved edges—a motif taken from nature, reminiscent of sea waves or flower petals. The dominant colour is a cool, silvery tone with a distinctly shiny, metallic sheen, typical of polished pewter or silver plating, although the material is not clearly specified. The central point of the composition is a high, arching handle, consisting of two twisted, decoratively profiled rods topped with spherical accents. The handle's attachment points are adorned with decorative, riveted connectors, in line with the craftsmanship of the era. The entire piece is kept in a uniform silver tone without additional colours, and the proportions—a shallow bowl and lofty handle—emphasise the harmony and lightness of the form. Condition is very good: only minor scratches and gentle patina are visible, confirming the item's age; there are no signs of major damage or repairs. This basket carries a story from a time when nature inspired everyday craftsmanship. Its flowing line seems to speak with the voice of the turn of the century: 'Simplicity and movement can coexist.' The silvery surface, reflecting flashes of light, evokes the atmosphere of the belle époque—a period in furniture and applied arts that sought harmony between function and sensitivity to beauty. This is an item where every detail—from the swirling handle to the wavy edges of the bowl—seems to contain the echo of a garden reflected in metal. The decorative basket can be placed in the centre of a dining table with a dark brown, polished top to highlight its silvery colour and fluid outline. It will also work well on a sideboard in a living room with eclectic or historicist accents—paired with porcelain from the same period or a single piece of artistic glass. In arrangements with Art Nouveau or classic modernist motifs, it is worth combining it with plant details, subtle tapestries, or a geometric vase made of transparent glass to emphasise its collector's character.
