George III oak secretary bookcase circa 1760, Thomas Chippendale style.

We are delighted to offer a magnificent library secretary handcrafted in England, George III period circa 1760-1780, featuring Thomas Chippendale carvings. It is a true classic piece of English town house furniture. The library secretary was an essential element of any refined library or study. This piece is very original, with detailed Chippendale-style carvings around the edges of the doors. The wood is, of course, oak with an authentic period patina. In terms of condition, it has been thoroughly cleaned, waxed, and polished. The felt is well worn and old, and some small drawer handles are missing, but the seller can provide a set of small brass handles at cost if the new owner wishes. Otherwise, apart from normal patina related to age and use, it is in very good condition.
