Drop-leaf desk (secretary) made of solid walnut, dating from the second half of the 19th century (post mid-19th century). A remarkable example of 19th-century historicist cabinetmaking, skillfully and robustly inspired by the curved lines and aesthetic refinement of Baroque and 18th-century repertoires. Structure and details: The front features three large drawers adorned with geometric mouldings and equipped with their original brass or bronze hardware. The slanted top opens to reveal the interior layout of the desk. The sides are made of sturdy solid walnut panels, and the base rests on a shaped plinth with curved feet. Condition: Beautiful original patina and solid structure. Shows normal signs of wear related to age, a testament to its authenticity and old-world charm.
