Large ceramic wall plate – Atelier Roy Montgolfier – unique piece

Superb wall plate in ceramic signed Atelier Roy Montgolfier, attributed to the ceramist Yvon Roy, active in Durtal in Maine-et-Loire. This unique piece features a hand-drawn decoration depicting stylised horses in a fluid and almost calligraphic movement. The speckled bluish-grey background highlights the spontaneous black line, characteristic of French studio ceramics from the 1960s-1970s. The composition, very graphic, evokes a universe close to raw art and modernist ceramics, which are particularly sought after by decorators today. Dimensions. Diameter: 33 cm. Depth: 8 cm.
