Large Art Deco ceramic plate, designed by Raymond Chevallier for Boch Frère

An exceptional and rare large ceramic collector's platter in the pure Art Deco style. This piece was designed by the distinguished French artist Raymond Henri-Chevallier (1900–1959) for the prestigious Belgian manufactory Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière. The design dates to approximately 1935. The central medallion features a motif emblematic of the era: a stylized female nude feeding a doe or stag. The center of the vessel is smooth, hand-enamelled, and embellished with gilding. The wide, textured rim, featuring concentric circles, is finished with a unique, rough glaze possessing a metallic, earthy sheen, creating a striking contrast with the central decoration. Authenticity marks on the underside: Artist's hand-painted, intertwined monogram: "RC" (Raymond Chevallier). Official Boch Frères Keramis coat-of-arms stamp. Hand-inscribed decor series number: 19/35. Impressed mark (mold number): "VIII A". Condition: Very good vintage condition. The platter is free of cracks, chips, or signs of restoration. There are only minimal signs of age-related glaze wear and slight rubbing to the gilding, which serve to highlight the object's authenticity.
