This is an exceptional folk art bridal wardrobe from southern Germany (Upper Bavaria). Particularly notable is the 'faux' marble painting, in blue and red tones, which covers the entire wardrobe. This must have been an incredibly meticulous task at the time. This piece dates to around 1850 and is still in very good condition for its age. Some light signs of use are visible, especially at the base rail, where two small pieces of plinth are missing, but these are fairly out of sight (see photo). For the purist, it is a minor restoration, but even without this, the wardrobe remains very attractive. The interior layout consists of a rail, several shelves, and a drawer. The wardrobe is quite shallow and narrow, making it easy to place. It was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. These pieces were later placed in a show room on the farm, which was only rarely used for important guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. On the back, there is still a transport label from 1916 from Miesbach to Bad Tölz.
