Campaign chest stamped Army & Navy C.S.L with drop-down desk.

We are delighted to offer for sale this beautiful and very rare campaign chest stamped Army & Navy C.S.L for officers, made of solid mahogany with brass fittings, including a drop-leaf desk in bird's-eye maple. These pieces are exceptionally rare, fully stamped on the left drawer "Army & Navy C.S.L Makers". The lock of the secretary is stamped "Hobbs & Co London" with the serial number 328. The handles are fully recessed; these pieces have spent most of their lives inside transport trunks, which is why they are in excellent condition and lack side supports. The drop-leaf desk is exquisite, lined in bird's-eye maple with a leather writing surface. This is a genuine original officer's chest of the highest quality that could be purchased at the time. These sets are authentic, heavily used, unlike most modern reproduction pieces. They bear numerous signs of patina due to years of transport. Dimensions: Height 90.5 cm, Width 99 cm, Depth 45.5 cm (measurements taken at the widest point). Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, slight discolouration. We recommend regular polishing to preserve the leather, and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight for hand-dyed leather.
