Vintage walnut commode with sliding top in Butler style.

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning vintage handmade chest of drawers made in England from walnut, featuring a sliding Butler top. A truly beautiful and well-crafted piece, it is a side table-sized chest of drawers with a fold-out top, traditionally used for butlers to serve drinks and snacks, thus protecting the visible surface. This provides a much larger surface for playing cards, etc. The condition is very good, with some signs of patina due to age and use, but overall it is in good shape. The piece has been thoroughly cleaned, waxed, and hand-polished. Dimensions: Height: 79 cm, Width: 63 cm, Depth: 32.5 cm, extendable to 65 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. Antique items like these naturally have patina with cracks, creases, and wear, and it is recommended to wax them regularly to prevent moisture loss. The hand-dyed leather is not recommended to be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods as it may dry out and discolour.
