Rare musical trivet from the Belle Époque, dating from around 1910-1925, combining an elegant finely carved wooden frame with a tile decorated with two swallows in a Louis XV style border. The item contains a genuine original music box mechanism, fully functional. Once wound up, it plays a delicate waltz for about 2 minutes and 25 seconds, without any hiccups or slowdowns. The trivet still bears its original labels, including one from the manufacturer "Le Paon" with the mention S.G.D.G., as well as an old handwritten label indicating the melody Les Alpes Valse, testifying to its authenticity. This decorative item was intended to hold a hot dish while playing music, a refinement highly appreciated in bourgeois interiors of the Belle Époque.
