This is a medium-sized domestic piece, designed for everyday use and intended for storing clothes, textiles, or personal items. The piece features a structured composition of drawers of varying sizes, typical of traditional Japanese furniture. It is entirely made of Japanese cedar, a wood valued for its lightness, stability, and durability. The original metal fittings, with understated handles and circular closing plates, are a characteristic detail of tansu from the late 19th century. The surface reveals a deep and natural patina, marked by time in a manner consistent with its age. A balanced and expressive tansu, ideal as a chest of drawers, accent piece, or focal point in a contemporary, Japanese, or wabi-sabi interior. It is in excellent condition, except for the imperfections characteristic of any antique, due to the passage of time.
