Large Japanese storage chest made between the late Meiji period and the early Taishō period, circa 1868–1926. This large domestic piece was intended for daily use, providing ample storage space for clothing, textiles, or personal items. The furniture features a spacious and well-proportioned vertical structure, composed of large-capacity drawers, offering a remarkable balance between functionality and visual presence. It is made of paulownia, a wood valued for its lightness and stability, reinforced with Japanese cedar in the structural parts. The original metal fittings, understated and robust, highlight the character of the piece without visually weighing it down. The surface reveals a warm and even patina, marked by time in a manner consistent with its antiquity.
