Iconic counterbalance ceiling lamp designed by J.J.M. Hoogervorst for Anvia, The Netherlands, in 1957. A quintessential piece of Dutch mid-century industrial design, it showcases Hoogervorst’s refined sense of proportion and functionality, blending minimalist geometry with technical precision. The lamp features a black lacquered aluminum shade with a white interior for optimal light reflection, mounted on an adjustable white lacquered steel arm with a counterweight system that allows smooth directional movement. The ball-jointed mechanism provides full flexibility, enabling the shade to be positioned precisely for task or ambient lighting. Its sleek silhouette and architectural balance make it as visually compelling as it is functional, a hallmark of Hoogervorst’s work for Anvia, which rivaled the designs of Arteluce and Stilnovo. The piece remains in very good original condition, showing only minor signs of age and use. A superb example of Dutch modernist lighting, both sculptural and purposeful, perfectly suited for collectors and design connoisseurs.
