K10-11 floor lamp by Tapio Wirkkala for Idman 1950s

Magnificent example of the iconic floor lamp by Tapio Wirkkala, the K10-11 model for Idman, Finland. This lamp functions as both a work of art and a utilitarian lamp. With its slender shape and body made of brass and lacquered metal, this lamp is an excellent piece of Mid-Century Modern design that stands out in any space. The ingenious structure allows for height adjustment and design customisation. The main design elements are positioned around the key functional parts, namely the lampshade, the adjustment rod, and the base. The sculptural brass rods intersect in a manner similar to a crane, which inspired the nickname of this model ("Crane"). The lampshade is lacquered white on the inside, creating a pleasant light. The name Idman is engraved on the brass handle. Idman produced models by some of the most famous Finnish lighting designers of the time, including Tapio Wirkkala, Mauri Almari, and Maria Lindeman.
