Spectacular "Tulip" secretary with a drop-down front, richly inlaid, remarkable for both its proportions and the abundance and finesse of its decoration. The façade features a beautiful play of burl wood and marquetry, combining scrolls, arabesques, floral motifs, and contrasting fillets. The large drop-down front is centred with an important symmetrical ornamental composition, particularly decorative. Once opened, it reveals a spectacular interior forming a cabinet, composed of numerous drawers of different sizes, symmetrically arranged around a small central compartment with two doors. Two small columns frame this central part, while a checkerboard decoration enlivens the composition. The deployed drop-down front creates a large writing surface in light wood, highlighted by an elegant marquetry border. The upper part also opens with closed compartments and is finished with a curved pediment, abundantly decorated with inlaid scrolls and topped with a small central compartment. The lower part, with curved lines, features several storage spaces and ends with a wide, shaped base, also entirely highlighted with marquetry. A piece of very beautiful presence, showcasing significant cabinetmaking work and offering, once opened, a particularly attractive interior. Period: mid-20th century.
