Rustic Farmhouse Folk Art Painted Bridal Cabinet from 1841

Antique bridal wardrobe dating from 1841, originating from Franconia, southern Germany. The aged character and the paintings give the whole a stunning appearance. Both the design and the painting of the wardrobe are simple and primitive; a typical and charming example of folk art from the region. The wardrobe is finished in a deep blue base colour with striking floral panels. The sides, on the other hand, are finished in a wood colour with motifs. The wardrobe has been restored in the past, which means that the blue paint and date were updated at that time. This was not an unusual practice at the time to keep the wardrobe beautiful for generations. The practical layout includes three shelves, two of which were added later. Old, sporadically present woodworm traces have been thoroughly checked and treated preventively.
