This lithograph “Aspects of Nature - Summer Evening” is signed by Henri Rivière and has a red stamp in the bottom right corner. We note a lack in the top right margin, a small tear on the right and one on the left, as well as small stains and signs of folding. On the litho, there are small stains. The colours are perfect; once framed, these defects will be less visible. We have taken a maximum of photos of the defects so you can assess the condition. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, for shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
