This lithograph “Au Vent de Noroît - Les Mousses” is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the bottom right corner. The work is authentic and old. For the more particular, note a difference in the size of the margin between the top and bottom, and a slight yellowing of the paper in the margin. As for the litho, it is in superb condition. The lithograph is very fresh in colour, and once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a stage director and set designer in 1886, for shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours). Our numerous photos allow you to appreciate the quality of this lithograph. For the condition, please refer to the detailed photos. Feel free to zoom in.
