Very old Breton marine / oil on canvas impressionist painting whose restoration revealed this magnificent sunset over the sea (before restoration, the subject was barely discernible). Between 1850 and 1900. It depicts a peasant woman in a headdress and her child looking at the coastal landscape, presumably Breton. The gilded wooden frame is period and in a very acceptable condition for its age despite some imperfections (notably missing pieces in the corners). Signature at the bottom left: Lany. Very bright colours in yellow, orange, and pink, with a green foreground. Overall dimensions: 46 X 37 cm. Painting: 33 X 24 cm. A truly charming painting.
