Very large painted folk art rustic farmhouse bridal chest / dresser

Exceptionally large painted bridal chest from southern Germany. Due to its impressive size, comparable to that of a wardrobe, this chest is extremely suitable for use as a sideboard or statement piece in your interior. The chest is painted in a deep dark blue base colour, combined with soft red panels. Within these panels, decorative C-scrolls with acanthus leaves have been applied. There is a date present on the chest, but it is difficult to read; it is probably the year 1811, which is quite plausible. The paint shows beautiful, characteristic wear, especially on the lid. Old, sporadically present woodworm traces have been treated and checked. The chest has an original lock with matching key and is fully functional. A very impressive and decorative piece of folk art.
