Antique Rustic Farmhouse Folk Art Painted Bridal Chest

Medium-sized antique painted bridal chest from Franconia, southern Germany, dating from around 1840. The chest is simply decorated and finished in a beautifully worn blue-grey colour, with simple red painted panels. The restrained decoration and weathered paint give the whole piece a characteristic appearance. The chest is in neat original condition with only minimal signs of use. The original lock is present, but no longer functional.
