Antique Folk Art Painted bridal chest 1737

Primitive decorated / painted bridal chest from Germany, specifically from the Swabian Alps. The chest has a very rustic appearance and shows plenty of character. This chest is in neat condition for its age, although there are naturally some light signs of use. There are occasional old woodworm traces, which have of course been checked again. The chest has a well-functioning lock with key. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. These pieces of furniture were later placed on the farm in a show room that was only rarely used for important visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
