Restored 1950s Art Deco Style Bookcase Display Cabinet with Flame Veneer

A highly elegant and remarkably slender display cabinet (vitrine/bookcase) from the 1950s. This beautiful piece continues the finest traditions of the Streamline Art Deco style, combining classic gravity with post-war visual lightness and extreme practicality. DESIGN AND MASTER CRAFTSMANSHIP The architectural silhouette features gracefully rounded side edges, an elegant recessed plinth, and sturdy block feet. However, the absolute highlight of this piece is its lower front section. The two-door cabinet is covered in premium veneer featuring a highly expressive, almost wild grain pattern. The craftsman utilized the book-matching technique, arranging the veneer leaves symmetrically so the grain creates a mesmerizing, hypnotic image reminiscent of dancing flames. FUNCTIONALITY AND COMPACT PROPORTIONS This piece is perfectly tailored for modern living spaces. Despite its height of 160 cm, it boasts an incredibly slender footprint: only 106 cm wide and a mere 36 cm deep. It offers immense vertical storage without overwhelming a room. The upper display case is enclosed by smooth-gliding sliding glass doors, a great space-saving feature. Inside, the sturdy wooden shelves feature an original adjustable height system. The lower section offers a spacious, lockable cupboard with a wooden shelf. The lock is fully functional, and the key is included. RESTORATION AND FINISH The cabinet has undergone a comprehensive revitalization process in our specialized workshop. All old, degraded varnishes were meticulously stripped down to the bare wood. The entire surface was finished with premium, eco-friendly hard wax oil. This modern, high-end treatment provides a natural, satin-matte touch that highlights the 3D depth of the wood grain while protecting the surface against moisture and daily use, avoiding the artificial gloss of old synthetic lacquers.
