Majestic Louis-Philippe mirror with shell crest.
Shells, leaves, and majestic gold. Dive into the grandeur of this superb 19th-century French antique mirror, in the Louis-Philippe style, made of gilded wood. The richly decorated frame features delicate leaf and flower ornaments at the upper crest and lower corners, highlighted by a beaded frieze along the inner perimeter. This beautiful French antique mirror in gilded wood has the rounded upper corners typical of Louis-Philippe mirrors. The mirror retains its original wooden backing. The frame is structurally sound, and the mirror has its original glass, in very good condition. The original gilding of the frame is beautifully patinated, giving it a lot of character. Some minor imperfections are present on the frame, as one might expect for a piece of this age and use, but this does not detract from its charm. Note: the visible band in the glass comes from the board used during photography — it is not part of the glass! The wooden slats at the back of the mirror are solely for protection — designed to keep the decorative elements secure during lifting or transport. Once the mirror is installed in your home or on your mantel, they can simply be unscrewed and removed.
