Curious little secretary, called "lady's secretary", from the second empire period, napoleon iii, last quarter of the 19th century. On a background of very blond elm burl veneer, it offers, without ostentation, a rich decoration inlaid with rosewood and rosewood, enhanced with complex mahogany moldings. The upper top is in white marble veined with gray, embedded in a mahogany belt. The interior "theater" is trimmed primarily in bird's-eye maple and mahogany; it has two small drawers mounted on mahogany. The flap remains covered in its original velvet, worn, but without tears, and framed in mahogany, elm burl and delicate fillets of lemon and ebony; it closes with a very beautiful lock engraved with flowering branches... Four drawers, mounted on oak, with dovetails, allow, from top to bottom, to store and sort papers, files, documents or other "secrets"...“spinning top” feet; functional locks, but two existing keys... The rear bottom has a recess on the upper panel, without any damage to the solidity of the frame, these panels being structural "cladding", rather aesthetic "dust covers"... This defect is not visible, except from the rear. In very good general condition, this object has only a few "wrinkles" from use, which its almost one hundred and fifty years of history can easily explain, an old varnish a little "matted" in places, and tiny gaps in veneer very barely visible... Its small dimensions make it easy to find a place for it... Other photos and detailed dimensions on request by email... Total height = 135 cm, width = 72 cm, depth closed = 38 cm, open = 72 cm.
