Small Salon Table in Ceramic by Vallauris, signed R.Capron, Collection Les Herbiers - 1960

Small circular coffee table in stained beech, signed by roger capron (1922-2006), made at the pottery of the font des horts in vallauris. Capron is a french ceramist, inventor of sandstone tiles called "garrigues". this process involves pressing plants from southern france in wet clay before firing them in the oven. once cooked, the charred footprint of the plants is beautifully detailed on each tile bringing an impressive result of detail and realism. So there are 47 of these tiles that adorn this small coffee table with a resolutely vintage look. The tray has a belt slightly ridged on top. These elements rest 4 sturdy cylindrical feet.
