Capron coffee table "herbarium" with metal base

Vintage round coffee table with a black metal base and 'herbarium' patterned tiles from the 1950s. The table rests on four square-section legs. Very nice colour of the tiles, with earthy and terracotta tones. Beautiful contrast overall, in very good condition considering its age. Each tile is handmade, produced using a technique in which real leaves were pressed into the clay, and during firing, they disintegrated, leaving a detailed imprint. The leaves come from the Garrigue, a type of indigenous vegetation found only in the south of France, where Capron lived and worked for 60 years. As this table is vintage, it may obviously show imperfections inherent to its great age. - Dimensions - diameter 87 x H 40 cm
