Canapé Cornaro from the first production by Carlo Scarpa for Simon, Italy, 1973. This rare first version was made of solid iroko wood, a dense African hardwood used only in the very first production series. Later examples were made from other woods, making this model particularly sought after by collectors. The wood has a beautiful depth and remarkable texture, with its natural hue and precise joints typical of Scarpa's architectural approach. The original manufacturer's mark is present. The upholstery is in fair condition, with visible creases and natural marks in the fabric, adding character but allowing for reupholstering if desired. The generous proportions and modular geometry recall the Camaleonda by B&B Italia designed by Mario Bellini from the same era, while maintaining Scarpa's sense of structure and balance. Carlo Scarpa's work is celebrated for its architectural precision and poetic materiality, and the Cornaro remains one of his most iconic furniture designs, featured in museum collections and major retrospectives. Shipping can be arranged worldwide, with delivery to the United States and Asia sometimes within two weeks.
