Enrico Franzolini Steel 2000 Orange Armchair for Moroso, Italy

Original Steel 2000 lounge armchair designed by Enrico Franzolini for Moroso, Italy, dating from the 2000s. A distinctive example of contemporary Italian furniture design, the Steel 2000 juxtaposes generous upholstered volumes with an exceptionally slim and precise metal framework. This example is upholstered in its original vibrant orange wool fabric and features an exposed chrome-plated metal frame running along the sides and rear before extending into slender legs. The polished structure gives the substantial upholstered body a visually light, architectural appearance. The armchair retains its original Moroso metal plaque, production label and quality-control label, providing excellent documentation of its authenticity. The original production label identifies the model as Steel 2000. Designed by Italian architect and designer Enrico Franzolini, the Steel 2000 embodies the experimental yet sophisticated approach to upholstered furniture for which Moroso has become internationally recognized. The combination of saturated orange wool, polished chrome and restrained geometric lines makes this armchair an excellent statement piece for a contemporary living room, office, gallery, hotel or collector’s interior.
