"Cornaro" bench by Carlo Scarpa in iroko wood for Simon, Italy, 1970s. First production of the Cornaro sofa by Carlo Scarpa for Simon, Italy, 1973. This rare first version was made from solid iroko wood, a dense African hardwood used only in the very first production series. Later examples were made from other woods, making this model particularly sought after by collectors. The wood features a beautiful depth and marked texture, with its natural hue and precise joinery typical of Scarpa's architectural approach. The generous proportions and modular geometry recall the Camaleonda by B&B Italia designed by Mario Bellini from the same era, while maintaining Scarpa's sense of structure and balance. Carlo Scarpa's work is celebrated for its architectural precision and poetic materiality, and the Cornaro remains one of his most iconic furniture designs, featured in museum collections and major retrospectives. Shipping can be arranged worldwide, with delivery to the United States and Asia sometimes within two weeks. The original manufacturer's mark is present. Reupholstery is possible; please contact us for options. Other Cornaro sofas available. Dimensions. Width: 140 cm. Height: 65 cm.
