Striking AX coffee table designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark during the 1950s. Crafted in teak and beech, the table features a slender rectangular top with softly rounded corners and gently profiled edges. The warm wooden surface emphasizes the natural grain while maintaining the light, refined appearance typical of Scandinavian modern design. Its most distinctive feature is the sculptural supporting structure beneath the top. The slender legs flow into beautifully curved Y-shaped supports, creating an open and expressive construction, while horizontal stretchers add stability without compromising the airy appearance. The combination of elegant proportions, organic curves and carefully considered joinery reflects Hvidt & Mølgaard’s characteristic approach to Danish modern furniture, giving the table a strong architectural presence from every angle. The table is marked underneath with the original Fritz Hansen stamp.
