Large Rustic Farmhouse Romantic Folk Art Bridal Chest

Special antique bridal chest, dating from around 1800, originating from southern Germany/Austria. This piece of furniture is painted in an atmospheric and traditional way in blue and yellow tones. The romantically painted panels on the front are striking, depicting mountain lakes and villages, while the rest of the chest is decorated with floral motifs. The original paint layer is worn and weathered in some places, but overall well preserved. Thanks to its generous size, the chest is not only highly decorative but also offers ample storage space. The chest has been fully checked and professionally restored, with attention to originality and character. The construction is solid, the painting largely intact, and the patina has been preserved. Old, sporadically present woodworm traces have been checked and treated. The bun feet have been replaced in the past, the lock no longer works, but this has little added value.
