Painted Folk Art Bridal Cupboard

This is an exceptional folk art bridal cupboard from southern germany (upper bavaria). What is special about this example is the ocher yellow painting and the rich decorations. There are marbled motifs, floral paintings, and some primitive landscapes are depicted between the panels and on the footer. This copy dates from 1817 and is still in very good condition considering its age. The interior layout consists of two shelves that were added later. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. The cabinet still has the original working lock and key. 176cm high, 137cm wide, 65cm deep.
