We are delighted to offer this highly sought-after, fully restored Victorian corner pine library, dating from around 1860, based on the original pieces by Samuel Pepys from 1666 currently on display at the University of Oxford. This library is, in fact, the cradle of the freestanding bookcase as we know it today. These mid-19th century examples were handcrafted by a master craftsman, with each piece of wood cut by hand. It is exquisite craftsmanship rarely seen in period pine. This piece has been fully restored by a master carpenter and a French polisher trained in the Victorian era, and it is the finest example available for sale worldwide today. Dimensions: height 196 cm, width 110 cm, depth 39.5 cm (all measurements taken at the widest point). This piece is available for collection from our warehouse in Pulborough. Please refer to the very detailed images that are an integral part of the description and condition. The condition is good, refinished, with wear consistent with age and use.
